I am a working mom who’s breastfeeding. I have a strict routine for pumping during the week.?
But I wonder, what should I do on the weekends????? Should I stick to the schedule and pump on weekends or breastfeed when we are together.
When he takes the breastmilk from a bottle he goes about every 3 hours, but when he nurses from me, he can go about 4 hours, so the “schedule” get “messed” up. I don’t know what to do. I know what I want to do, which is feed him whenever we are together, but I don’t want to hurt my milk production. Please help.
If you want to feed him when you’re together, do that. You can always pump afterwards to help your milk supply. Nursing is a precious bonding opportunity; take advantage of it while you can. The extra pumping should help stimulate your milk production enough to make up for the weekend schedule change.
Good for you that you’re so determined to breastfeed, too, by the way. : )
