Breastfeeding and the mini pill?

Have any other breastfeeding mothers who have also been on the mini pill had any problems?

I started taking the mini pill around a month ago. I have been exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months, but found around 2/3 weeks ago, that my daughter was not getting enough milk anymore, and that my let down was taking AGES to happen, whereas before it took literally seconds. Also, one breast just will NOT let down, no matter how much she nurses, until she has had the other breast.

I’ve upped the amount of solids I’ve been giving her, whilst not decreasing any breast feeds, but still find I have this problem.

Now I’m thinking that it has something to do with taking the pill, and wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem? My daughter is dipping on her weight growth chart and I’m worrying now…

here’s what I found on about.com

Birth control pills that use only progestin are often called “mini-pills.” They can be very effective as long as you take the pills at the same time each day or night. These pills are considered safe to take while nursing. Some of the progestin does cross over into breast milk, but no harmful effects have been seen. Some mothers see an increase in their milk supply while using this method, while most see no difference, and a few will see a decrease. Other methods using only progestin include Depo-Provera and Norplant.
