To those who gave up breastfeeding and went to bottle?
(For non-medical reasons) Was it really any better? A friend wants to give up breastfeeding, and go to bottle. When I first had my child I wanted to as well, thinking it would just make everything better. But I stuck with it, and now looking back I think the beginning would have been just as stressful whether I breastfeed or bottle fed. Do you agree with that? Obviously every situation is a little different. I think the feelings of frustration, exhaustion, and being tied down are normal either way. Opinions? Should I advise her to stick with it?
I gave up breastfeeding my first at 6 months, due to bad advice from a pediatrician. It was not better and I deeply regret it. I was still just as sleepless, still just as stressed. Nothing changed, except I had to spend more time cleaning and preparing bottles.
I would definitely advise her to stick with it. Offer support, ask if she would like to go to a La Leche League meeting, or needs the number of a good lactation consultant in the area.
