Breastfeeding problem?
Hi All,
I am first time mother. My baby is 3 weeks old now. I had Csection and next week I got bronchitis so had to take antibiotics. After that, I got mastitis and now doctor says I have to take another dose of antibiotics. Breastfeeding is so painful now, I cry whole night. I get atleast two plugged duct everyday. To get rid of those is the most painful task. I am pumping out excessive milk. but still its getting very tough. I read that after taking antibiotics, I might develop thrush too. Please ladies guide me. Sometimes I feel to give up breast feeding but I would feel guilty about it later on that I know for sure.
I’m sorry that you’re having so much trouble. Breastfeeding can be really tough in the beginning. Rest assured, even though it’s really hard now, it will become easy. No one wants to wash bottles or make extra trips to Wal-Mart for formula! Keep it up, you’re doing great!
I recommend that you take some probiotics. The kind from the health food store that they have to keep in the fridge. Garlic will help with immune issues too. You can eat it or take supplements.
Someone else reminded me that vinegar in the wash can really help with thrush infections. I’ve used vinegar on my baby’s diapers, and it really works to kill the yeast. Put it in the fabric softener dispenser. It will soften the fabric too and help with odors (not that you have stinky laundry). Tea tree oil in the washer can help too.
Keep your bra dry. Use fresh pads when you need them, and change your bra often too.
Find someone who will cook for you. Call your friends, neighbors, relatives, anybody. Ask if they would please, please bring over a casserole and some salad. When they come, do not entertain them. Let them hold the baby while you eat. If they know what they’re doing, they will sneak into the bathroom and clean it for you while you’re not looking. Most people are happy to do this, they just need to be asked.
Find someone who can help with light cleaning and animal care, if you have pets. It seems like a luxury, but it’s not. A messy house is stressful, and you can’t heal when you’re stressed out about the dirty carpet.
You can do this. I believe in you. You’ll get through it and it will be totally worth it!
