Breastfeeding In Public Laws

What do you think about this?

This woman was asked to leave after not hide Applebees while breastfeeding … Even if in NY Breastfeeding in public is protected by law. Here is the article http://www.kentucky.com/211/story/161993.html Just to add, nurse Giong National now. Here is a link to more information http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?p=9033115 And no, I can not breastfeed do not breastfeed My daughter and I did not breastfeed, health reasons, but I think a mother should not do to leave a place to feed your child, especially when protected by law.

If Mrs. Ryan was like Pamela Anderson Lee have not complained of the "client." If it was actually a customer's complaint, the manager should asked the client to sit with his back to Ryan. How do you feel uncomfortable ….. is just a tit …. tion of infant feeding …. which is the main reason God gave women …. guardians of the family. This was an act of the beginning of time ……. Eve, Cain and Abel fed this way of Jesus and Mary fed so ….. and Mrs. George Washington fed in this way …. then what is the problem? This is the healthy way to go for the mother and child. Mrs Koodo Ryan. She should sue for discrimination and pain and suffering or something …. anxiety? …. something …. for all children love her.

Newborn Breastfeeding Schedule

How can you treat everyone give contradictory "advice" on how to care for your newborn?

My son is just 3 weeks and is also trying to adjust to having a baby, I'm dealing with the world around me gives me conflicting "advice." My mother was staying with us since birth – and the last 3 weeks (she lives out of state). I was nursing him and he seems very hungry at night and I have to say that I give him cereal babies, my husband, saying he owes less to eat and give you a meal schedule time, as every 3 hours plus I was having the formula of breastfeeding, physicians say they should breastfeed exclusively and simply want to breastfeed the baby when she wants. I get very frustrated and overwhelmed because I feel that I can use my own brain and not only am I confused the confusion I feel like my baby only 3 weeks, the milk with a minute another formula, baby cereal and the next time. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Well, in this case, your doctor and you're right, then as hard as you can see this, you have to stand up for you and your baby what you know is right. The first and the best thing to do is send your parents, or to say that you have to go if you can not allow you to take care of your baby in the way you want. It is not easy. It is important that your husband understands that disrespect and undermine the doctor (which must surely have more knowledge about what her husband) when the baby is bottle between takes. It may be helpful to know that * makes the baby's breast milk of nursing frequently. If the baby is full of something else and not breastfeeding, you can not milk. In addition, three weeks is the time of accelerated growth in the first place, and the babies want to nurse almost constantly. if the baby is allowed to do, and not complemented by the formula, you'll have plenty of milk. Grain is never appropriate for a child this age. Never. He fills out the baby with empty calories. Some pediatricians say even babies should not be given rice cereal because it is like food "tablespoons sugar. "

Mother Breastfeeding Videos

mother breastfeeding videos
UK Mums, did you know the Government have made . . . ?

A new video to be given to expectant mothers about breastfeeding?

I watched it today at the breastfeeding support I go to.

If this was in your antenatal bounty pack/ info from your midwife, would you have watched it, would it have helped? Would it have influenced your decision on how to feed your baby?

(its a pretty good vid for a Government production, I was quite impressed with what it covered)
It covers several women’s journeys and includes issues like feeding after c-section, feeding after baby has been in NICU,feeding going well, feeding going not so well, women who have previoulsy formula fed & more its really personal and nice . . .

Yes, I would definately have watched it. I was emergency section, tried to BF, poor latch and production problems. I asked repeatedly for help. I was put in a single room at the end of the corridor and forgot about. My LO blood sugars started to fall and I caved and formula fed.

I maddens me that so much emphasis is put on BF and how important it is, but its not only expectant mothers who need educated, its hospital staff too. I asked for help and the only piece of advice I was given was – just put her on the breast, its the easiest and most natural thing to do, you’ll get it right.

Not very helpful. I hope the hospital staff are made to watch that video also.

Bottle Feeding Vs Breastfeeding

The debate has raged for years. Breastfeeding vs Bottle feeding. Which is better? – Well, I guess it’s only raged for the last 50 or 60 years, since they invented baby formula. There are lots of arguments for both side, dealing with nutrition for baby, health for mom, bonding, and a ton of other things… but here’s one thing that’s not talked about as often as it should be: breastfeeding and weight loss.

No, not for the baby. Breastfed babies are generally larger than their bottle fed brethren. But that’s not the point  - this is weight loss for the mom! Every mom wonders if that extra baby weight from the pregnancy will ever go away (so they can fit into their old jeans again). So let’s compare bottle feeding with breastfeeding and weight loss.

Let’s start with bottle feeding and it’s affect on the mother. This one is pretty simple… the mom holds up the bottle for the baby for the first few months, which does burn some calories, but not much. I guess you could count the frequent waking in the middle of the night and walking down the stairs to mix up the bottle as exercise – but that’s probably affecting sleep more than anything. Then you have to take into account that in most family who bottle feed, there is at least a second person who does the job half of the time (the Dad), thus removing any calorie burning effects that might have been gained by the mother.

Now let’s talk about breastfeeding and weight loss. It has been shown that breastfeeding can burn up to 600 calories per day! That’s the equivalent of two hours of intense aerobic workouts a day. That’s pretty awesome.

There are also reports that Mothers who breastfeed more frequently lose weight faster than mothers who nurse less often, and mothers who nurse for shorter periods of time tend to lose weight more slowly than mothers who nurse longer. So it’s entirely possible that if you breastfeed you’ll be able to eat more than you ever could before and still lose weight!

Why is that? Because breastfeeding and weight loss go hand in hand! Really though, it’s because you are feeding two people and you’re body has to work pretty hard to make the milk and make enough of it to support an entirely separate human being – that’s growing like a freakin’ weed.

So if you want to lose weight and keep it off after pregnancy – stick with breastfeeding.

Fun Example: My wife has lost over 40 pounds from breastfeeding alone! You can read her story here:  Breastfeeding and Weight Loss

Breastfeeding Quitting

breastfeeding quitting
How to quit breastfeeding?

I have to quit breastfeeding because I will not be able to pump when I return to work… I was just wondering how to quickly stop producing milk… any suggestions?

My OBGYN said to do the following:
1. pump out the milk from your breasts so that they are empty.
2. wrap them tightly and apply ice 3 times a day for 15min at a time.

If that doesnt work, the gyn can give you an injection to stop your milk production. Hope that helps.

Breastfeeding Vs Bottle Feeding

hello want to find out mums opinions on breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding?

im doing an year 12 assignment for child studies and i want to know what the mums out there think about breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding etc… the pros and cons

now this is just my opinion.. but breastfeeding of course is best for baby..

now, I LOVE the bond that i have with my daughter that I believe that I got from breastfeeding. of course i would have bonded with breastfeeding.. but I feel we are stronger for breastfeeding..

my daughter is never sick, however all her cousins which all three were forumla feed are ALWAYS sick.. like ever week it is something new, infections left and right.

i noticed also with bottle feeding my brother in law just props up the bottle and leaves his son to go at it… which come on, is that bonding NO!, also bad for the baby, he may over eat that way, choke ect.

breastmilk tastes better than formula.. formula tastes like just that.. some formula some people came up with and there a whole bunch of nasty stuff together.. and called it milk.. well breastmilk is a sweet and natural milk made just for human babies.. that IS why we have breast right?

I wouldn’t ever think about putting formula in my babies belly.. but for others they wouldn’t have it any other way but to use formula..

okay.. enough of my rant…

The contributions women have made throughout history are many as they are varied. Celebrating women’s history month involves celebrating remarkable women such as Roxanne Wilson, Twanda Joseph, Dr. Leslie Dauphin, Chip Hurd, and Joy Enriquez all of whom excel while maintaining various roles in business, science, television, and music.

BUSINES BRIEF

Among other characteristics, Roxanne Wilson is described by Donald Trump as “very, very smart,” brilliant, a good speaker, and very impressive. Wilson was the first African American woman to make it to the final four during season five of NBC’s, The Apprentice.

Intelligence, ambition, and congeniality are traits that enabled Wilson to secure a spot on the show. Along with the ability to lead and counsel, these same traits contribute to Wilson’s success as an appellate attorney, business owner, television host, speaker, and author.

Wilson is proof that perseverance pays. “If you never try, you won’t ever fail, but you won’t succeed either,” she advises.

As an author, speaker, trainer, and talk show host, Twanda Joseph is positioned to transform the workplace in a meaningful and creative way. A former Arthur Andersen employee, Joseph’s career took a drastic turn when the firm was indicted for its involvement in the Enron accounting scandal. Even though the Andersen scandal cast a shadow on her career, Joseph chose to turn tragedy into triumph. In 2002, Joseph formed WiseEffects to address challenges employees face in corporate America.

WiseEffects is a professional services firm whose mission is to “use multiple communication channels to connect employees with wisdom for the workplace.”

In addition to hosting radio and television broadcasts, Joseph serves as a facilitator for seminars on diversity, change management, conflict resolution, and communication.

Breastfeeding Formula Feeding

When did it become the norm for people to make a choice between breastfeeding and formula feeding?

Obviously, we have the choice as first time mothers.
Somewhere along the line, breastmilk was substituted with a replacement formula. When did it become ‘normal’ to have to make the choice?
A date and a URL would be very helpful if possible please.
(please don’t go on about ‘breast is best etc because everyone knows that but for some people that doesn’t work and it doesn’t appeal.)
(Oh and just for the record, I’m breastfeeding my baby.)

http://ajph.aphapublications.org/cgi/content/full/93/12/2000

check out that link…..i actually found this article a couple of years ago…..atually in 1880′s women began offering cow milk substitutes to their infants…..with horrible results.

The United States government attempted to intervene in the practice for many years after the turn of the century.

Fantastic research by Jacqueline Wolf, Phd in this report.

Bottle Vs Breastfeeding

Vs. breastfeeding. Formula VS natural birth. Medicated?

I am a brestfeeding mother but I have curious as to why many breastfeeding mothers to call those who formula feed ugly kids their mothers or lazy or irresponsible. I agree that breastfeeding is best. but not for everyone. Some women try to find it very difficult for the child or the habit of blocking or not. Why can not we just accept the settings, even if we disagree. On the other Why hand the formula to give nursing mothers fuck mothers nursing in public. You feed your baby in public why we should not. There is nothing wrong with our choice of our lock Shild our chest during dinner or watching a movie in the theater. I am not criticizing you shake a bottle of formula. Why it is great for making Natural vs. medicated birth. I had two epidurals and give birth at home this time. But why does a sound of pity for my deliveries to mothers who have natural medicinal and why I have harsh words from people who think I should be in the hospital.

I do I can not stand it anymore. No I'm going to mention names, but some of you are idiots. I am one of those fans that breastfeeding is best. That said, there's a reason I know with certainty that breastfeeding is not right. Glactosimia (pardon my spelling). As rare as this condition is I have two friends who gave birth to a child with this condition. Apart that I am a bit irritated by women who swear they just make enough milk, or say that her baby was not in place. There are very few pediatricians out there who know what they are talking about when it comes to breastfeeding and even fewer hospitals are really promote breastfeeding in force. I think that's the saddest thing for many women listen to these doctors as if God himself. Good for you for your baby home! I wish you all the best! The biggest idiot who answered this said it is not only an advantage breastfeeding, which is superior to formula. You are not even capable of breastfeeding as you are a man down so you can not answer these questions with something stupid. How many women who are on the fence have read your post? As regards the epidural I have them as I have caesarean sections for all my births. You want to criticize my cesarean go ahead, but no doctor is going to try a vaginal birth and why I was the first because the baby was dying (yes is dead anyway), then 38 hours. I wish people did not consider the epidural as a kind of safe. They are not. As Diceman2 emphasized that there are real concerns there. Finally, I have no idea where anyone filling a baby bottle in his mouth without a serious attempt to nurse down to express the opinion of a nursing mother in public. Why get all these kinds of responses of mothers who breastfeed because we are passionate to the cause. There is nothing even close to the gain breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding Not Enough Milk

breastfeeding not enough milk
Is my baby getting enough to eat from breastfeeding?

My 4wks old baby when breastfeeding she gets fussy whenever the breast comes out of her mouth and also when she is sucking she will just stop and start crying and gets miserable. My breast sometimes feel very light and empty. Could it mean that i am not producing enough milk. She also breastfeed for long. I gave her formula and it was 4ozs and she drank it all and i had given her the breast before i did so. What could be the problem.

Drink more fluids to help with your milk production. Yes, breastfeeding is enough to feed her. It’s all she needs for the first 6 months of her life.

Breastfeeding How Much Milk

breastfeeding how much milk
How much breast milk do I need to save up?

My mother-in-law wants to babysit our baby for a whole weekend. I’m breastfeeding and not sure how much milk I need to save up before I can let her babysit. I’m not even really sure how much he’s supposed to eat a day since I just let him nurse until he’s finished each time and have no idea (in ounces) how much he is eating each time.

I would say, “Thanks a lot, MIL, but breastfeeding is really important to me and to the baby. We’re not ready to be separated for that long.”

Seriously…..I have no idea how old your baby is, but you could have a baby who is on a nursing strike or who is weaned by the end of the weekend. Is it really worth it? What would be the point of leaving the baby with MIL for a whole weekend? So she can fulfill some fantasy of being a mom again? Can’t she just spend a few hours with her grandson during the day? Give you a short break of only a couple of hours for dinner and a movie? Heck, does he even take a bottle?

I would absolutely NOT do this if it were my child.

YOU are the parent. If nursing is important to you, just say, “thanks but no thanks grandma…..would you like to have him for 4 hours on Saturday while we do dinner and a movie?” Honestly, don’t worry too much about hurting grandma’s feelings on this one. It’s what’s important to your BABY…..not what grandma would like…..that needs to be considered.

Seek Breastfeeding Help From Professionals

As a first-time mother, you might be quite unaware of the techniques and intricacies of breastfeeding and in such a situation breastfeeding help can be a good source of much needed information. You can get proper advice regarding many aspects of breastfeeding such as how to take care of the baby, the right time to feed it, what type of feed you should take, when you should go to sleep and what to feed the baby if you run out of milk. Breastfeeding help would be ideal when you are exhausted after the birth of the baby. You would also gain immensely from the advice of lactation consultants at this stage.

Lactation consultants are available either in hospitals or in the office of a pediatrician. They also work privately and it is advisable for first time mothers to consult them shortly after the birth of the baby so that proper breastfeeding techniques are adopted from the very beginning. It is essential to know about latch-on basics but merely reading text and seeing pictures might not be of great help. Instead, if voluntary breastfeeding counselors show you the techniques practically, you would be in a much better position to feed your baby properly and also avoid latch-on problems such as sore nipples and the baby getting less milk. Lactation services are also provided by many hospitals as a component of their maternity schemes.

Lactation consultants can provide proper breastfeeding help and breastfeeding tips if your baby finds it difficult to latch-on or suck or if some other medical problems are making it difficult for the baby to breastfeed. All that you need to do is to look around, make some queries and find a good and experienced lactation expert. You can take the help of your childbirth educator, or the health care provider for finding the best lactation consultant in your area. It’s important to check the credentials of the lactation consultant and you should look for the credentials IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant) or CLC (certified lactation consultant) after the name.

Many nursing mothers get specific problems regarding breastfeeding. These problems need special devices such as pumps or breast shells to facilitate the discharge of the milk. A lactation consultant is the best person who can guide the mother on the proper use of the breastfeeding pump and how to eliminate the problem that created the need for the external device.

There are many volunteer organizations like La Leche Volunteers that provide breastfeeding help either on the telephone or through support meetings. Many leaflets and books are also published by them to provide breastfeeding help to the mothers and to give all possible information and support to the mothers who can gain sufficient confidence and practical knowledge. By attending the monthly meetings, the mothers can interact with each other and exchange notes based on their personal experiences. Moreover, the mothers can gain proper knowledge regarding positioning of the baby near the breast, public place breastfeeding and general tips regarding mothering.

You can get the best breastfeeding help only from professionals and as such you should turn to such lactation experts or to the volunteer organizations that have sufficient experience in this field.

Formula Feeding Vs Breastfeeding

Why we women fight over breastfeeding vs formula feeding?

I wonder what the real reason is that women have this “war” between us regarding those who breastfeed and those who CHOOSE to formula feed.

I personally have nursed all of my kids and I would never give them formula. I have been given the dirty looks while out in public, I have had my husbands friends call me “disgusting” I just don’t understand why breastfeeding is not accepted in our culture anymore and why we as women don’t unite instead of fight over the issue of formula.

It was a man that invented formula to be used in the event that a baby would die.. not to be used as the default. What happened?

Personally I don’t judge women that formula feed, and I have never tried to make any woman feel bad about it.
Some women are unable to do it due to lack of proper assistance and guidance. Some are unable to do it because of surgery or other health problems. Whatever the case, who am I to judge?
However, I do have a problem with people saying things like: “Breastfeeding wasn’t for me, I liked formula much better.” “Or, It’s my choice what’s it to you?” Or “Formula is just as good, and my baby ‘s quite healthy”.
Formula is never as good. And I don’t know why women think they have 2 choices. There ‘s only one right way, and that’s breastfeeding. Unless you ‘re unable to do it due to medical reasons, why do you think you have the choice to give your baby something mand made instead of what ‘s meant for them to eat? We are mammals. We are supposed to give our babies mother’s milk. Yes a baby can survive on formula, and thrive, and be very healthy. But that’s should be available to us for special cases only. It shouldn’t be a choice for every healthy and capable of nursing mother.
You may say it’s non of my business, but if that’s how everyone felt about other peoples kids, there would be no lactation consultants.
Breastfeeding needs to become the norm. That ‘s how the human race will become healthier and stronger as a whole!

Baby Gas Breastfeeding

I have some questions about things for the baby?

1. When should I start tummy time? My baby is one months. 2. no it's very cold here, my baby has a blanket, but she is holding over his head, but her hands felt cold and his face feels good, but it's not that I can put a blanket over all sound is so good, you think, so now what would you do? 3. What things should not eat to avoid giving my baby gas, when breastfeeding? 4. I take my baby to walk when you can put them in an umbrella stroller? The stroller is big and the other for some reason the hook does not work for the car seat if it did, but it just does not seem so hard for me! * If you do not feel bad word up there

1. You can start to baby face now, just make sure you are there to help you keep your head turned to one side. 2. Wrap it if your hands stay inside the cover. Keep your hands down while doing so and must remain at least for some time 3. All that gas will be avoided. 4. You can not use an umbrella stroller until baby can sit and not a crisis. You can get a stroller that is not too big where the baby died. Or get a swing or curl up and walk this way.

Breastfeeding and assist preparations for infants?

I breastfeed my baby, but can not produce enough milk, such of formula I can use that are as good as breast milk? I wonder is there a type of bottles or teats that are close to the nipple of the breast? Any web site or information is welcome! Thanks in advance!

Even if you've heard so much not enough, it is extremely rare. Women who have a real inability to breast surgery have had enough in the past or a medical condition such as hypthyroidism. To avoid the low offer is not replaced at all. Doctors try to push all the time. Hypoglycemia, low birth weight, jaundice and delayed production of milk should be supplemented. Do not replace the pump in food for a couple of weeks, if possible. The first month of the nurse babies do not and always hungry. This is normal and no evidence of supply problems. Pumping does not say anything about what the baby is in. If your baby has a poor lock do not use a bottle because it will make things worse. Find a Certified Consultant Blei breastfeeding if you have any questions. The satisfaction of their city of La Leche League leader is a good idea too. They usually have home visits. Do not believe everything the doctors, nurses, friends and family tell you without checking bfing kellymom.com or ask your lactation specialist. There is much misinformation in the market. I always try babycenter.com support. They have a forum strong support for nursing mothers. Come to submit before the baby even comes. Good luck! BTW, breastflow the bottle to my baby can not breastfeed.
