Need a quick way to stop milk production breast. The answers I've found so far is "to continue breastfeeding." My five month old boy died of SIDS, Saturday and constant reminder to horse around my chest is killing me. If anyone has any suggestions for herbal or assistance on how I can get my milk dry up, I'd be very happy. I can not allowing the doctor to offer, and everything I've done so far is wearing a bra tight game. But I went from a 32B to a 32E, so you can imagine, I'm in pain.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you find the support you need from those around you. If not, please visit a professional. Some plants that provide milk are decline in black walnut chickweed herb Robert (Geranium robertianum), Lemon Balm Oregano Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) Peppermint (Mentha piperita) / menthol herb Periwinkle (Vinca minor), sage (Salvia officinalis), sorrel (Rumex acetosa) Mint Thyme Yarrow

My baby is 6.5 weeks old now. I tried breastfeeding at birth but kinda gave up on it. Can i start now? I would love to try again. Are there any natural ways (no herbs or anything) to increase my supply? i hear oatmeal works wonders! Im going to get a manual pump tomorrow and also, how good is hand expressing? If i start pumping or expressing, how long will it to take for me to get milk?
Look at all the ignorance! If you don’t know the answer to a question for sure, then you shouldn’t answer at all!
OF COURSE it’s not too late! Even if your milk has dried up- there is still hope. Women can and do breastfeed adoptive and surrogate babies without ever having been pregnant so if they can bring on milk flow, so can you! Stimulation is the most important thing. Oatmeal does help. Drink lots of fluids. With the stimulation- put the baby to the breast as often as possible and pump pump pump! I helped my cousins wife re-lactate and we got her a supplemental nursing system (SNS) so that she could still tube feed the baby formula/expressed breast milk to ensure he was eating while he suckled the breast. She did use herbs and they are safe but I can understand your hesitance. With the herbs, she had a good milk supply in about a weeks time. She used fenugreek and blessed thistle just in case you do change your mind. They are not necessary however, they just make the process a bit faster and easier. Brewer’s yeast is also helpful!
To the person who said she’s likely doing things that she can’t when you breastfeed- I think it’s worth noting that you can eat and drink almost anything you want while nursing. You just obviously need to avoid drugs, alcohol and make sure all meds are safe for breastfeeding. There are no unsafe foods or nonalcoholic drinks under normal circumstances….not sure what you’re implying or where you get your information.
ETA: It’s a bit ridiculous that someone would give my answer and the answer below mine a thumbs down. Both answers are FACTUALLY sound. Giving an answer a thumbs down implies that you disagree. If you don’t agree with FACTS, then something is wrong with you.
It is a FACT that you can bring a milk supply back. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s hard but it CAN be done. The tips I suggested have worked for a lot of people. None of that is conjecture or my own personal opinion so I really can’t comprehend what’s not to agree with. Again, it’s fact- which means that it’s right. It’s not an opinion thus it’s not really up for debate.
Some people just don’t understand science!
To the original poster- I wish you the best of luck!!!

Breastfeeding / pumping / blocking issues (new mom)?
I have a child who is 3 weeks and does not lock. Usually the pump on the other side you eat and store the milk. Now, my milk comes in normal times. I was pumping all day only getting about 1 g each side. HELP! My daughter is hungry and can not get breast milk because it locks not and does not have enough milk stored for her to have a bottle shape. Soooo frustrated. (
OMG I'm so excited that question! I had exactly the same problem when my daughter was born. Get a shield. This is what they seem and when I got mine. They are hard to find in stores, but you may be able to go to the hospital where supplied directly and ask one. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2403234 This small SILICONE piece is a life saver! 200%! Simply attach to your nipple and the baby's sucking like breastfeeding! Babies cling to it so easy and allows the milk flow more easily. It took a little getting used to, but it's a miracle! I promise. He said that each person can have me, who is breastfeeding Problems! Just keep pumping as much as possible. Also, have you tried a breast pump machine. Her nipples stimulates the heart and helps to produce more better milk. I hope that helps girls and good luck! Hope you try the nipple and give it a try.

I have recently been informed that I am positive for hepatitis C (yes, I used to be a user drug users in my past life). In fact, I felt quite old and have been pain in the general area of the liver in my abdomen (I have gallstones, but too i) Anyhoo I am also breastfeeding my daughter and do not want to wean her for a while. I know that hepatitis C is running, but I can not take the herbs that can help my liver? How about a liver detoxification, it is possible while still breastfeeding? What about food and diet?
I recommend buy the book Herbs for Hepatitis C and liver, by Stephen Harrod http://www.amazon.com/Herbs-Hepatitis-Liver-Storey-Medicinal/dp/1580172555 which I bought Bühner Years ago, when a friend of mine was diagnosed with hepatitis C, and was very impressed by the research, information and suggestions. This book lists herbs that … 1) reverse or prevent damage to liver cells 2) have an antiviral activity against hepatitis 3) reverse hepatitis symptoms and optimize performance the dose of the liver, preparation, contra-indications and are presented in a very clearly that in depth. Some herbs are best suited to specific conditions associated with hepatitis C, so do not be final "Hepatitis C is a good pasture. You can sort the information that you in particular. It also gives dietary recommendations. I do not recommend a liver detoxification. This creates too much stress on the liver and the body to be of no use to you or your baby. Your liver needs be supported and nurtured at this time, no surprise in rehabilitation.

Every age and every society has its saints and sages, with its long history, China has produced a large number, some so old as to be lost, except for the echo.
A major Chinese philosophies was Taoism, the founder of Taoism is considered by many to be Lao-Tzu (604-531 BC), a contemporary of Confucius. Was looking for a way to avoid the constant feudal warfare and other conflicts that have broken society during his lifetime. The result has been a great education, the Tao Te Ching. Many believe without But no one is Lao Zi, is probably a mythical character who symbolizes the combined wisdom of the teachings of the time.
Central religious Taoism Spiritual eight people are known as the "Eight Immortals" (Chinese Xian) and may be intended to be allegorical, these people super-human or perfect (John chin) came to be adored and emulated by the Taoists. These perfect beings live far away in a quiet place to live a life without effort of physical liberty. They do not age, not eat nothing but air, drink nothing but dew, and enjoy the power of flight, which really illustrate the power of spontaneity and Taoist spiritual transcendence.
These eight powerful beings are said to have been born under the Tang Dynasty (618-907) or the Song Dynasty (960-1279). . Among the Eight Immortals, a number appear actually have been living in history. They were "real people." However, the many stories that have accumulated, which describes the magical and mysterious life of these immortal make it almost indistinguishable from the historical mythology.
The Eight Immortals appear frequently in Chinese literature, mythology and art, and each one has a symbol and a special power. Today, the Eight Immortals represent the hope for long life and good fortune abundant in today's world.
The immortals are said to live in the mythical island of the blessed, or, Penglai Shan, he is said to be surrounded by water so low will not be released, but only they can cross it. They are always shown in the chart, and except perhaps on rare occasions in Chinese opera.

my nipples /areola’s are raw..they itch..dont know why but my question is…my daughter stopped breastfeeding 11 months. and now i am left to either loose my milk supply by not pumping.. or keep irritating my nipples/areola’s by pumping instead of letting them heal. i wouldnt care to stop pumping and be done with breastmilk, but my baby dosnt take any other liquid. so i have to pump my milk and mix it in her cereal.. she dosnt take sippies, or bottles or cups.. she refuses…waht would you do? thanks..
When she doesn’t have a choice she’ll take something else. Go to your doctor to find out what’s wrong with your nipples. The irritatition could be why she doesn’t want to nurse.
She needs to be starting on juices, water and other milk.

How many ounces should I be getting every time I pump?
My daughter is a week old and I’m breastfeeding her.I’m new at all this breastfeeding stuff.I have a manual pump.Every time I pump I’m only getting half ounce to maybe one and half ounces.I feel I should be pumping more than that.I have a friend that just had a baby and she is pumping like 4 ounces every time she pumps. So is there something wrong with me or am I doing something wrong?
I would not be pumping this early. If your baby is nursing as often as she should (about every 2 hours or more) you aren’t going to have time to pump.
Just nurse your baby. In another 3-4 weeks you can pump if you want/need to.
But to answer your question, an ounce at a time, esp. if you’re also nursing often, is great, esp. with a cheap manual pump.

Breast milk contains lactoferrin which helps in absorption of iron and protects the intestine from any harmful bacteria. The other component called lipases helps in digesting your fats which helps in baby’s growth and development. It not only serves the purpose of providing nutrients to your child but also in serving the purpose to quench to your baby’s thirst and fill-in your baby’s stomach.
The IQ of the child also increases by providing breast milk. It saves lot of time and money as you don’t have to sit up late night and mix the formula for your baby. The cost baby food is also cut which gives more time for the mother to be with her baby.
It creates a bond between the mother and child which binds them together. Nursing helps the mother to loose the extra pounds which she gained during her pregnancy. It burns out lot of calories which helps in bringing back the original size. If there are any chances of bleeding after child birth it lessens due to breast feeding. The risk of breast and ovarian cancer is minimal.

Can you get an accurate mammogram while breastfeeding?
I am due for my yearly mammogram. I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and I am breastfeeding. I want to know If I should wait. I plan on breastfeeding for at least another year though. Breast cancer is very high in my family and I really don’t want to put it off.
Do NOT have a mammogram while lactating. The lactating breast looks totally different than the non-lactating breast. Mammography during this time is a waste of direct radiation dosage to your breast. We do not do mammograms on lactating women without direct recommendation from a radiologist or breast surgeon.
Self examine your breasts monthly and if there is a new lump that does not go away after feeding, then see your doctor. You can then have an ultrasound to determine if the lump is suspicious and needs further evaluation.
Although Breastfeeding is a natural process, it is mostly a learned art. Obstacles are the norm, but it is the best start that a mother can give her new baby. Breastfeeding benefits both mothers and babies, it protects babies from disease, and women who have nursed have substantially lower rates of breast cancer. Like the other two video classes in this series, ‘Laugh and Learn About Childbirth’ a…

Breastfeeding and pumping my daughter enough to eat?
My daughter is almost 7 months and breastfeeding. I also recently introduced solid and eat 3 meals a day. Full-time job, I pump at work. My question is, lately, it seems that if you wake up at night. At first I thought was due to teething, but she is very hungry! After eating, going back to sleep. Lately he has been waking 2-3 times a night to eat ( given time, could not sleep all night). The 3 bottles when I put the work is only a total of 15 to 18 ounces (and weighs 22 lbs.) How I can know how not eat during the day? (I guess if I can pump more may sleep better at night!). I also try to avoid having to complete. Thanks! PS. In total, that is breastfed or bottle-feeding a total of 7-8 times a day! (For now, it should be closer to 5 according to his pediatrician).
Oooh, you'll find here a bad habit. Honestly, I say this based on the advice of my (excellent) the pediatrician for my two children who were breastfed. After about four months of age (and, in particular, seven months), no need to eat at night. Has a bad habit and you'll have to break it. Try increasing the daily intake 24 ounces (8 ounces 3 times a day) and morning and evening as nursing, and must be good. Try pumping more / more often to increase its bid. Normally a baby would, but since they have been pumping, pumping his pace may not remain with their needs. If you have to complete, do not feel bad, you did a great job and little formula and not take away the form of all the benefits of breast milk given. It is likely that (hopefully not, but fingers crossed) to continue sleepless night, even after eating more during the day because it became a habit for her. You'll have to resist the urge for food night and get her back on schedule and sleeping through the night again. PS: all the baby wakes up at night. So yes, it will wake up at night, but it should be able to go back to sleep without your intervention. That is what the film "all night", this does not mean she does not wake up at all.

I have not tried breastfeeding him. Only bottle fed. It’s been 2 months since I had him. I have tried binding, freezing, and even cabbage leaves. I am still leaking and they are even sore. I brought it up to my doctor and they said it’s normal and there is nothing else I can do. Is it true?
Why don’t you breast feed since your milk is continuing to stay around? If you choose not to, for whatever reason, then it can be a tough go of it.
With my first one I had to stop because of multiple breast infections that got worse with each one.
My milk just didn’t want to stop. The doctor had me pump all of the milk out of each breast and then my mother tied a bed sheet around me as tight as possible. I still got very engorged (which is very, very painful). I had to sit with ice packs on each breast and keep switching them out for newo ones once they would warm up. You can not, under any circumstances, pump, remove that sheet, or get into a shower while going through this process because if milk gets out, your body doesn’t realize it’s not from the baby sucking it and it will produce more. You can ask your doctor if you can take some tylenol for the pain, but believe me, it doesn’t help very much, if at all.
I was lucky in that my mother came to help with the baby and had me go to her house for the day to relax. Sometimes just hearing the baby cry will cause the “let down” reflex and the milk comes out. I was “busting out of the seams” of the sheet I got so engorged. My breasts felt like they were choking me they were so big! Not a pretty sight, that’s for sure. It took 2 days of staying bound up and it finally started to go down (during this time I had to “sponge bathe”…in fact, I did that for a total of 5 days because I was afraid to let water get on my breasts for fear the milk would come back in!).
With my second child it was so much easier because I didn’t get the breast infections and I was able to nurse him and wean him slowly from the breast. So much easier.
That’s why I suggest going ahead and feeding him from the breast and then slowly weaning him off.
I know there is a pill that they used to give women when they had a lot of trouble with their milk drying up; however, it can cause a lot of complications and can be dangerous so the docs don’t like using it unless absolutely necessary.
Good luck!

Breastfeeding questions (MOMS WHO BREAST FEED ONLY)?
How do you know how much milk you have in your breast? Can your milk ever run out when feeding? And how do you make more milk for example lets say i make 2oz how can i make 5oz?
Please answer all three questions. THANKS LADIES
Breastmilk is a supply and demand sort of thing. The more your baby needs and nurses, the more your body provides.
There are circumstances when your milk can run “out”, but change breasts and keep going. The more you nurse, the more your milk will come in.
If you want to produce more, pump between feedings. You want to stimulate your body to produce more milk.

My daughter is 6 months old. I am a stay at home Mom but would like to start pumping some so that I have some frozen milk to use at times…for rice cereal and babysitters…I am just about to introduce solids. Anyway, I have a pump. Right now I think that I am producing exactly what she needs as in our supply and demand is totally in sync. So how do I go about pumping and building up some stores without taking milk from her that she needs. Would appreciate any advice.
what you do is after she is done eating that is when you pump, you will only get a little in the begining but eventucally you will start preducing more milk cus it is in demand, its best to do it around the same time of day too if thats at all possible
***DO NOT listen that person that said use normal milk for your baby’s rice cereal!!!! You arent allowed to give your
baby cows milk until he/she is AT LEAST a year old!!!! & it is always good to have back up milk in case an emergency comes up nd you are not able to feed your baby, its better to have to much than not enough! & why would you waste money on formula when you have FREE milk, i wouldnt listen to anything Linda R said, i would continue to build up a supply, like i said before…its better to have to much than not enough!

I’m breastfeeding and consequently have sore breasts – any advice on how to relieve soreness?
I’m not talking about breasts getting hard due to lack of breastfeeding – I’m talking about the fact that I HAVE been breastfeeding, and as a result, the nipples are sore from the baby suckling. Any thoughts? I’ve used creams to prevent the chapping, but my concern is the nipple soreness from the constant (every 2-3 hours) breastfeeding….
Two things helped me:
Lanolin – God’s gift to breast feeders, IMO. That stuff is great – heals cracking (and bites when the child teethes).
Also, change you hold position. Everyone has a favorite hold but it needs to be changed once in a while to give the milk ducts a rest.
Good luck and keep up the good work!

Hi i have been having cramps (like AF) over the last week or so, and also over the last few days im getting a strange feeling in my boobs….
It feels similar to the let down reflex i had when breastfeeding, (which for me felt a bit like deep heat on my nipples).
So anyway, have been having this feeling (like deep heat) surge through my boobs every hour or so? Doesnt ‘hurt’ but feels very, very strange.
No i am not breastfeeding – havent done so for around 8 months, period not due for another week or so…?
Could this and the cramping be an early preg symptom or part of my ovulation cycle (have NEVER had cramping like this for ov before, and never the boobs!).

Three kids, breastfeeding problems with all three and not one medical professional (doctor or otherwise) mentioned Phenugreek. For those who don’t know, Phenugreek is a natural supplement that drastically improves milk supply in nursing mothers (at least it did in our case).
It was a simple, cheap solution to the problem. What the hell is up with the medical community? I have a hard time believing they’ve never heard of it. So why didn’t they tell us?
They don’t get any training on breastfeeding!!
a real lactation consultant w/ the IBCLC credentials after her name (international board certified lactation consultant) or a La Leche League Leader should have at least proposed it as a possible idea.
