Breastfeeding And Baby
My baby doesn’t nurse more than 10 minutes….??? HELP PLEASE?
AHAHA I’m breastfeeding my little girl she is 7 weeks old. She nurses no more than 10 min. My LC said that is fine she weights 10 almost 11 pounds. ( She said my baby is doing fine). But she nursed for 5-6 minutes all day long yesterday! and She was having green stools….and she was constantly eating in the afternoon off and on every hour or so. She went to sleep at 3 am. and she wake up at 10:00 she just nursed for 6 minutes she doesn’t want to eat more!!! and she wants to go sleep ! what is the problem????
My son did the same thing. I figured out that I have an overactive let down, so he gets full faster. The green stools result from your baby not getting the fatty hind milk and just fore milk. This is also why she wants to eat more often. Try to self express some milk before nursing so she can get the hind milk.
My son is now 11 weeks old and still usually nurses 10 min or less and he is perfectly fine…weighs 14lbs and has yellow stools.
They also eat much more often during growth spurts when they are trying to increase milk production.
Hang in there!! You are doing the best thing for her.
Breastfeeding moms when and how did you give your baby formula?
My daughter is 13 weeks old and I tried pumping milk out and having my husband feed her but she got real gassy and had a hard time going back to the breast when I got home.
This was 6 weeks ago and I am afraid of trying again because it took two days to get her used to me again.
But it would be nice if I could take my son out alone he is 7 and wants to go to a baseball game and I dont really want to take my daughter.
any advice will be appreciated!
I used avent bottles the ones with the wide nipples
My daughter was in the NICU when she was born, she got formula because she was drinking more than I could pump. When she was 6 weeks old, I had to have surgery (emergency), so she got formula for 3 days. She hated it, mostly because she was not used to the bottle. After I went back to work, she took 2-3 bottles of milk every day at day care. I was pumping but taking the milk to day care (not home), one day I worked late so my husband gave her formula (probably around 5 months) she was not happy with him, and crazy to see me when I finally came home from work. Now our plan is to give her formula if there’s no milk. We don’t give it to her regularly, only if we have to.

Everyone was able to defeat chronic nipple / ductal thrush?
I have thrush (a sharp pain in the breasts and nipples of Pepto-Bismol)! I was treated with gentian violet, all for me and the baby for 7 days, Diflucan 200 mg for 30 days, clotrimazole cream, liquid nystatin (made my vomit baby). Wash everything with hot water and bleach, vinegar on my nipples, acidophilus supplements. Diflucan Once I quit I'm in agony again. I do not want to wean my baby. I need advice for breastfeeding mothers with experience. Does it go away? Was anyone able to breastfeed? PLEASE HELP!
Feel your pain literally. Has been in and out for me for 6 months. Luckily my baby has never known pain, at least if it is not reacting at all. I started nystatin liquid, helped for a few days, then returned with a vengeance. I used the gentian violet, which helped, but began to have ductal thrush. Even I tried to do my obstetrician gynecologist prescribed me Diflucan, I said (very condecendingly) there is no such thing as ductal yeast infection … I insisted and finally gave me a dose of 100 mg prescription for 21 days … Called out for about three months, and then … returned. I was down and out of state, who just received the Monistat cream and uses … In fact, it helped a little, but only temporarily. I am constantly trying to find ways to cope with (and yes, ALL also bleach, vinegar, garlic, sunlight, … Looks like I'm killing a vampire here) … I was talking to another mother with this problem, and she said that "pills Yogurt "- she says her most powerful acidophilus, and waaay more powerful than the yogurt itself. This is what called Bifidobacterium infantis BabyLife Solaray powder, can enter in a grocery store or if they are not normally wear. I hear compliments about it, and in a few days (payday! haha) I'll buy anything! Sorry, could not say Yes, Beat It, but I just wanted to offer support … I asked this question by S / A before, and most people do not even guess what we have lived … Even my own mother, who raised my sister 3 years … She had sores on the nipples, nystatin used for a week and never had a problem again … So, naturally, she thought I was "making a mountain out of a grain of sand, can not be that bad, right?" However, apparently mutated fungus Candida for 15 years and now very safe treatments on average. You are not alone, there are many many women who struggle with him in this way … I do not know if it will ever be completely eliminated, but as long as not too painful, I am ready to face … Finally went toe-curling together, into bite cries of pain, and now it's just that God is so boring and do not touch my pain boobies. Oh, well. I will try Bactilophilus pills or other, if the first try, please let me know how that happens ….
Is Lansinoh (breastfeeding ointment) good to use on tattoos?
So I was reading through questions on here, and some people have recommended using nipple ointment made for breastfeeding moms with sore and cracked nipples on healing tattoos. Who has done this, and is it better than using, say, A&D? Lanolin is the main ingrediant is one such ointment called Lansinoh, which is kinda like a moisterizing protectant for dry and cracked skin, mixed with vaseline to make the ointment.
orry i ment petroleum jelly not vaseline… well i guess they are the same anyway, but thats the base for all ointments regardless
I used bepanthen which is what you’ve described on my tattoo and it works excellent the fact that it is also an anti-sceptic helps with healing as well. It was recommended by my (very experienced) tattooist and two of my friends have also used it, none of our tattoos had any problems and my friend was in fact complimented by his tattooist on how well he’d taken care of his. I did NOT use vaseline i dont see any reason why you would need to, just make sure you dont rub to hard when applying it and to keep your tattoo moist not smothered.
I’ve had nipple thrush for 2.5 months. help! read on please?
My son’s oral thrush went away with diflucan drops, but mine has never gone away. I was on diflucan for two weeks and lotrimin cream as well. I’ve eliminated all necessary things from my diet and my doctor says it will go away once i stop breastfeeding. I’m worried it will never go away and am very upset by this. Two and a half months is a long time to deal with this. Please offer suggestions. thank you.
I forgot to add, my son and I were treated at the same time, but his thrush went away while mine did not. The two week course of Diflucan did not help. If I take it for two weeks again, will the thrush actually go away if it is in my milk ducts? I fear I will always have it and worry on how to get rid of this. thank you for all of your suggestions.
I am just (hopefully) finishing with my nipple thrush. It’s been about 2 months. I FEEL your pain!!!
Your dose of diflucan wasn’t given for long enough. All my research showed that we need to take diflucan for at LEAST two weeks after the symptoms are GONE, not from when they start. I had to print out tons of info and give it to my Dr and beg and shriek for more medicine and it finally helped. A lot of Drs really aren’t educated on breastfeeding and breastfeeding issues. Here are some links for you.
I’m so sorry; it really is so painful and discouraging. Hope this helps!! ![]()
** I used Nystatin cream (which was useless), and Gentian Violet, which helped a bit at first, but the issue was I’d wasted a week with the Nystatin and the yeast had entered my milk ducts, making any topical treatment basically useless! Tell all of this to your doctor, and if need be, call La Leche League. They know what you need and may be of some assistance. They gave me great advice.
It’s an as needed medication in the case of nipple thrush. Some women are fine with just 2-4 weeks of treatment, less if it hasn’t entered the ducts. Some women need months of treatment. I had such a difficult time getting the help I needed because the medical “professionals” I went to were so poorly informed/educated on breastfeeding. Research helped me stick up for myself and get more Diflucan. You can do it!! Don’t feel pressured to wean because “that’s the only way it’s going to go away.” I also suggest taking acidophilus capsules and eating more PLAIN yogurts for the active cultures. Cutting down on sugar in your diet can also be beneficial, since the yeast thrives on it. Email me with anything you need, ok?

What can be causing my 4 month old baby to have green mucusy stool?
He has been having these bm’s for five days now after each feeding. I am breastfeeding mostly and supplementing with soy formula for two of his feedings daily. He has no fever and seems to be content. Also, this happened 3 days after I had the H1N1 vaccine. Could that be causing it?
Sounds like he’s gassy, if your breastfeeding he may be getting too much of the ‘foremilk’ . Try to let him empty your one side before moving to the other side. My baby had this when she was a few months old. And why did your baby get the H1N1 at 4 months?? I thought they were supposed to get it at 6 months.

Nursing mother query – breastfeeding?
My wife is breastfeeding 5 month old baby. She gets her nipples sore and sometimes painful as the baby doesnt handle well or the baby extends sucking. This is tricky as we can’t go for any treatment for sore nipples since it may affect the baby’s feeding. How can we get rid of this problem? Are there any ointments/medicines that doesnt affect the baby but relieves the sore/painful nipples? Please advise.
As others have said, lanolin is perfectly safe. She can also try expressing some milk and letting it dry on her nipples, and walking around topless, or at least without a bra and a loose top. If her nipples are always in a tight bra (especially if it’s not all cotton), they can get irritated.
She might also want to speak with a lactation consultant (I think they may be called something different in Australia? Her midwife or doctor can direct her.) Baby may be latching poorly (sometimes as baby gets older both mom and baby get lazy about a good latch), which is what’s making her sore.
EDIT: Do not use a nipple shield unless the lactation consultant specifically recommends it, and supervises its use. Nipple shields usually just make things worse, and don’t solve the underlying problem.

red dots on the baby?
I have 3 week old baby with me breastfeeding and formula feeding in these days his notice i have 3 small buttons that are very similar or red spots all over her face and her face seems oily. Is this the cause of heat or too heaty? Is this normal? how to get rid this? His stool has also changed to yellowish green with dark spots completely greeenish. Is that normal bowel movements and poo related /? thanks for the reply.
Baby acne, which is very common and of itself in a few months. And the shit is because you are breast / bottle combo:)
Breastfeeding hurts – How do I get rid of this infection?
I have a week old, mother of 3 feeding, but thrush / yeast in my nipples and milk ducts. I finished my oral prescription (Diflucan) and I'm still with the ointment and take acidopholus but the infection continues. I'm in a great amount of pain not only during but between the two meals as well. How do I get rid of this horrible thrush? My baby is also a treatment for candidiasis. Today Dr. Newman I'm using the cream and sugar and alcohol reduction. I'll add the vinegar rinse and see if it makes a difference.
Locate the site of Dr. Jack Newman (Your local LLL or breastfeeding clinic could also be helpful). It has an amazing formula a cream to treat thrush. Also, wash your bras, shirts, underwear, sheets, etc. with hot water and rinse with vinegar too. Dieting without excess sugar (the juice and foods like white bread, rice, potatoes, too.)
How do I get rid of candidiasis in infancy?
Have a thrush / yeast from baby 1 week. The two were treated with all resources (gentian violet, nystatin, Newman, diflucan – twice) and I'm at a loss about how to get rid there. Oh, and I took acidopholus and grapefruit seed for 8 weeks and will continue, but it is really useful? Also cut almost all and thoroughly wash all the sugar in order not to propagate the yeast. The pain is still terrible and my nipples are constantly burning. I'm very tempted to give up breastfeeding mom. That's why I stopped breastfeeding my first child. It is very disappointing. My child is 2 months. Already Gone La Leche League and a midwife and lactation consultant at the same hospital ……… there are other ideas!
I just had this and be able to stop the pain and burning in a few days. My son was in pain during breastfeeding, and stood on such a day. My infection, even in my milk ducts! You take 1 ml of distilled water (must be distilled) and put 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract in it and shake well. That swab your nipples after each feeding and leaking milk. Let your nipples air dry and try to go without bra. Also swab the baby's tongue every hour during the day and before each meal (if you do not associate the bad taste with an aftertaste of nursing). The mixture so usually lasts a few days to allow the infection to spread back and forth between her mouth and her nipples which kills the yeast extract. Make sure that once your clothes are wet fly, they are changed permanently and use of new bibs. Wash your clothes, and everything that comes into contact with the yeast in warm water with 1 / 4 cup vinegar in the rinse cycle. Hot and dry. Use cotton towels if you need nursing, not single-use plastic back (to keep moisture in yeast nipples and likes moisture.) While you deal with it, use paper towels to dry your hands that yeast can live in your towel. Take seed extract grapefruit pills 2x per day as well, and acidophilus and cut all dairy products. The stabbing pain in my pipe was in a few hours, and burning in the nipples took few days. My nipples were bright pink (and I mean bright!), Are about halfway back to its normal color now-1 week later. I think yeast is gone, but it takes time to heal nipples. I will continue treatment for 2 weeks after all symptoms disappear completely, as he I said. I also heard that sun exposure can help your nipples, but do not think my neighbors will thank you.

anyone rash fenugreek and blessed thistle?
I started taking supplements at the same time is two days since he has been given by my doctor and lactation specialist that I have enough milk for my baby that makes me whole while I keep trying to breastfeed, but now I realize that an eruption is my arms and legs and do not know if it is complete or not. Someone a rash of these? Should I stop taking it? I really hope to continue with them and not abandon breastfeeding my son.
I take fenugreek and have never had a run of it. Maybe try taking two Benadryl and see if that helps, if it does then you probably have an allergy, if nothing else is causing the eruption. I had problems with supply as well, and I know how difficult it is to keep your power up. What worked for me was pumping every two hours, drinking three liters of water, Fenugreek and Mother's Milk tea. Now I have a surplus of milk. Keep it up, things will improve.

My baby week had not stool for two days. What I can do? I am your breast.?
I breastfed and blended formula every 3 hours. She seems happy with it. And she wet the bed between meals.
How many wet diapers does your baby one day? How How often are you nursing? Do you hear the baby swallowing? The baby seems satisfied after eating? Breast milk is produced on? Anyway, I would communicate with the PED and lifelong learning. There may be problems of supply and the baby is not getting enough milk. Good luck!

The increased production of milk using an electric pump only?
My baby is 1 week and 3 days. I was breastfeeding, but, unfortunately, have mastitis and yeast. Tuesday, my doctor gave me antibiotics for mastitis and oral tablets of fluconazole for yeast. My child is not thrush. Because of the pain and cracks, I decided to pump a couple of days and the formula feed my baby soy base. I've heard that milk production is set in the first two weeks and I concerned that the pumping breastfeeding affect my no real long-term supply. I try to pump every two hours during the day, even if no milk comes out only encouraged to keep my chest. anyone can advise me if I speak appropriate and if there is anything I should do something? I will try to initiate breastfeeding within one again in a day or two and continue pumping the other. Thank you very much. First time mother worried.
I pumped a lot when my daughter was first born because I was in a great pain. I pump every 2-3 hours for 15 minutes and that was fine. Your milk must be good. He was also very good change from breast to bottle.
PLEASE HELP. Breastfeeding, 4 hours old, just arrived from the milk and baby food less often, do I do?
The first three days, my son was very good food for a newborn, fell into a pattern of eating every 2.5 to 3 hours of yours. When he was asleep on the breast fight to keep awake and was (and is) often dirty diapers. Now, my chest is very painful and fully his last meal was a little over three hours and fed for about 20 minutes, now refuses to eat and sleeps. I'm new at this and very worried, what should I do?? In addition, your stool is still green, but fluid. Is that bad?
I have breastfed my three daughters and I had this problem. Usually had to pump a bit to relieve some of fullness. Be I realized that if I undress, usually up diapers or pants that remained more alert. I also spent a cold washcloth on them. I think it is only laziness typical newborn. They had a few rough days I'm sure. I just want to keep trying to wake him to feed every two or three hours. This nurse is always as possible. I would say that feces are in transition in the stool Stool type of meconium in the newborn. My daughters stool turns flowing and turned Lee mustard yellow seedy around the 4th day, if I remember correctly. I would say that although it is common to have wet diapers and stools, so it should not have something to worry as much as welfare.

Baby screaming while breastfeeding..thrush?
I suspect my baby may have thrush. The insides of his cheeks look white & shiny. He wants to eat but the minute I start to nurse him he begins to scream. He does have reflux(though this is debatable) but I don’t think it’s that since it is instantaneous. I don’t think it’s gas either because he will be totally fine & begins screaming when he eats & usually stops right away when I take my nipple out of his mouth. What do you think? BTW, I am taking him to the doctor but I would like advice on what else this could be.
I don’t think thrush is shiny, its a fungus.
Could you maybe have overactive letdown? Or too slow let down? Usually if you have overactive letdown when you unlatch the baby the milk will still spray out of your nipple.
Ear and sinus infections are also another possibility as they cause pain when sucking.
