Benefits Breastfeeding Toddler

benefits breastfeeding toddler
When I pump milk for my newborn can I also give some to my toddler?

I will be breastfeeding the new baby when she comes in November. Then when I return to work February, I will be pumping full time. I breastfed my son until he was 13 months via pump. He has not been breastfed in 5 months, and he will be about 26 months when I start pumping again.

Would a 22 month old benefit from breast milk in a sippy cup at all or would it be a waste for me to pump extra?

It would be a great benefit. Some mothers don’t know how much your breast milk improves a child’s immunity against diseases. The WHO recommend breastfeeding each child for 5 years with 24 months being the absolute minimmum for best health. Even adults have been proven to benefit from it. It is wonderful stuff, like liquid gold! Don’t waste this opportunity!

Issues Breastfeeding

issues breastfeeding
2 weeks old having breastfeeding issues?

I have a 2 week, 2 day old baby girl and I am having issues with breastfeeding. She is not latching on correctly but I really want to feed her this way. I have been supplementing her with formula since I am not making enough milk due to her not latching on. Is it to late to get her to breastfeed correctly or is there something I can still do? I do attempt to breastfeed even though it hurts really bad because she doesn’t have enough of the nipple and areola area in her mouth because I feel breast milk is better than formula and I don’t want to completely dry up. Also how can I make more milk so she can get enough from me without supplementation.

It isn’t too late to fully breast feed your baby – what you should do is find a Lactation Consultant (the hospital where you gave birth can probably help you with that – just call the Maternity dept), or you can contact the La Leche League in your area – there is almost no problem they haven’t come across and they will be able to help you.

Meanwhile, try picking your baby up when she is asleep and putting her to the breast, she may latch on better then, rather than when she is impatient and hungry.

Also, try getting your breast milk flowing before you put her on the breast, she will get milk right from the start and won’t get frustrated.

Good Luck – keep going – you already know how good breast milk is for your daughter!

Newborn Sleep Breastfeeding

newborn sleep breastfeeding
How do you know when to change feeding schedule for a newborn from 8x a day to maybe less?

We’re breastfeeding our newborn every 3 hours (8x a day). This is exhausting but necessary I know. But when does the baby or us transition to a less regular schedule? When can the newborn switch to say 4-5hrs? Is it month 1,2,3 or 6? And also around when can a newborn sleep though the night?

Well, if you feed your baby on demand, it simply isn’t an issue. Feed him/her when he/she is hungry. The intervals will stretch out gradually and naturally. You can’t define it by absolute hours and ages – it depends on your baby’s size and appetite.

Some babies sleep through the night from a few weeks old. Others don’t until well over a year. There’s absolutely no way to tell what yours will do – but IMO it’ll take far longer if you carry on with a rigid schedule day and night. Baby has nothing encouraging him to sleep longer at night at the moment. If you don’t wake him up to feed at night, keep it dark, don’t talk. don’t nappy change unless he is stinky, he’s far more likely to stay sleepy and get used to being asleep at night rather than in the daytime.

Breastfeeding One Breast

Is it normal to have a "weak" during lactation?

My left breast was a power problem this experience together. Cracks and fissures with low milk production. When the pump can never have an ounce or two to my left "low" breast, while my good get atleast three, four or more times. I tried to feed on that side, pumping the other hand, everything. Is it normal to have a weak chest like that?

I think that's normal. For a moment, my left breast was not producing as much as my right. So I made sure to feed him more often. Now, when my right breast pump seems to be producing less. But like the other morning, I pumped out of 9 oz, so I'm sure you have enough, even with a weak chest.

Breastfeeding Windy Baby

breastfeeding windy baby
Does anyone have any ideas on how to help a "wind" of the baby?

My newborn (5wk years) seems to be windy pain in the lower all the time, you wind after every meal for more time and more time and memory, but it still seems that the pain in lower wind. I tried to watch my diet and im breastfeeding (no cabbage, chocolate, etc), but to no avail and also give some relief of colic, which is at times. ideas that are there?

Have you heard of the tiger "in the tree? You place the baby's belly on your forearm with the head near his elbow and butt in the palm of your hand. The pressure from the wrist of his stomach and it feels good to relax. Furthermore, when the rot, the place on his shoulder and hopes and the spine is straight. Put something good and then rub your fingers up and down on both sides of the spine a few times and burp again. If you stopped diapers can try again but this time leaving his arm. The pressure feels good on the belly. If you give your belly during the day is also good. He will work the muscles and pressure on the stomach, at the same time. Attention! can not like more than a few minutes the first time, but keep trying every day. You want he use his belly when he first turns completely do not hate him and scream at 2 am to be overturned. It's great for babies who have a little tummy time during the day while you're there to see it. Also, I like to burp cloth both in the stomach during times of extra pressure. You can also try gas drops, but I never saw a difference after use. Make sure you still have regular BM and every day. Do not stop breastfeeding unless your doctor has prescribed. If you notice, lose weight or if you think something more serious is going to be called doctor. There pylori few guys about 5 weeks old brand. They begin projectile vomiting after taking and if this is the case, go to the doctor or emergency room. It is always better than cure. Not scary, but it's something to look at 5 weeks old in a child. Do not worry if your baby is older. DON "T GIVE WATER.THIS baby can cause inflammation in the brain. Should have no more than an ounce 1 / 2 of water per day and that is not even necessary because they get everything they needed water from milk. Water is more or less to clear if they think they need and that is again within 1 / 2 ounce per day. I am a mother of 2 and a babysitting certificate, trust me these things work. Do not worry if you call the doctor or nurse line also so they are there. Good luck and God bless

Thrush Breastfeeding Diflucan

Everyone was able to defeat chronic nipple / ductal thrush?

I have thrush (a sharp pain in the breasts and nipples of Pepto-Bismol)! I was treated with gentian violet, all for me and the baby for 7 days, Diflucan 200 mg for 30 days, clotrimazole cream, liquid nystatin (made my vomit baby). Wash everything with hot water and bleach, vinegar on my nipples, acidophilus supplements. Diflucan Once I quit I'm in agony again. I do not want to wean my baby. I need advice for breastfeeding mothers with experience. Does it go away? Was anyone able to breastfeed? PLEASE HELP!

Feel your pain literally. Has been in and out for me for 6 months. Luckily my baby has never known pain, at least if it is not reacting at all. I started nystatin liquid, helped for a few days, then returned with a vengeance. I used the gentian violet, which helped, but began to have ductal thrush. Even I tried to do my obstetrician gynecologist prescribed me Diflucan, I said (very condecendingly) there is no such thing as ductal yeast infection … I insisted and finally gave me a dose of 100 mg prescription for 21 days … Called out for about three months, and then … returned. I was down and out of state, who just received the Monistat cream and uses … In fact, it helped a little, but only temporarily. I am constantly trying to find ways to cope with (and yes, ALL also bleach, vinegar, garlic, sunlight, … Looks like I'm killing a vampire here) … I was talking to another mother with this problem, and she said that "pills Yogurt "- she says her most powerful acidophilus, and waaay more powerful than the yogurt itself. This is what called Bifidobacterium infantis BabyLife Solaray powder, can enter in a grocery store or if they are not normally wear. I hear compliments about it, and in a few days (payday! haha) I'll buy anything! Sorry, could not say Yes, Beat It, but I just wanted to offer support … I asked this question by S / A before, and most people do not even guess what we have lived … Even my own mother, who raised my sister 3 years … She had sores on the nipples, nystatin used for a week and never had a problem again … So, naturally, she thought I was "making a mountain out of a grain of sand, can not be that bad, right?" However, apparently mutated fungus Candida for 15 years and now very safe treatments on average. You are not alone, there are many many women who struggle with him in this way … I do not know if it will ever be completely eliminated, but as long as not too painful, I am ready to face … Finally went toe-curling together, into bite cries of pain, and now it's just that God is so boring and do not touch my pain boobies. Oh, well. I will try Bactilophilus pills or other, if the first try, please let me know how that happens ….

Breastfeeding Constipation Baby

Why do some people give advice instead of answers?

Instead of answering the question – to give advice instead. I think is so annoying sometimes -. For example, see a lady asked about constipation baby and suddenly you get all these people I say were not breastfeeding (an example). You sees many people who do not answer the question, but their opinions openly to be in place. I think if they can not answer the question, who should keep his opinions to himself themselves – what do you think?

Sometimes an opinion is the only answer. In my opinion, but surely

Breastfeeding Thrush Diflucan

I’ve had nipple thrush for 2.5 months. help! read on please?

My son’s oral thrush went away with diflucan drops, but mine has never gone away. I was on diflucan for two weeks and lotrimin cream as well. I’ve eliminated all necessary things from my diet and my doctor says it will go away once i stop breastfeeding. I’m worried it will never go away and am very upset by this. Two and a half months is a long time to deal with this. Please offer suggestions. thank you.
I forgot to add, my son and I were treated at the same time, but his thrush went away while mine did not. The two week course of Diflucan did not help. If I take it for two weeks again, will the thrush actually go away if it is in my milk ducts? I fear I will always have it and worry on how to get rid of this. thank you for all of your suggestions.

I am just (hopefully) finishing with my nipple thrush. It’s been about 2 months. I FEEL your pain!!!
Your dose of diflucan wasn’t given for long enough. All my research showed that we need to take diflucan for at LEAST two weeks after the symptoms are GONE, not from when they start. I had to print out tons of info and give it to my Dr and beg and shriek for more medicine and it finally helped. A lot of Drs really aren’t educated on breastfeeding and breastfeeding issues. Here are some links for you.
I’m so sorry; it really is so painful and discouraging. Hope this helps!! :)
** I used Nystatin cream (which was useless), and Gentian Violet, which helped a bit at first, but the issue was I’d wasted a week with the Nystatin and the yeast had entered my milk ducts, making any topical treatment basically useless! Tell all of this to your doctor, and if need be, call La Leche League. They know what you need and may be of some assistance. They gave me great advice.

It’s an as needed medication in the case of nipple thrush. Some women are fine with just 2-4 weeks of treatment, less if it hasn’t entered the ducts. Some women need months of treatment. I had such a difficult time getting the help I needed because the medical “professionals” I went to were so poorly informed/educated on breastfeeding. Research helped me stick up for myself and get more Diflucan. You can do it!! Don’t feel pressured to wean because “that’s the only way it’s going to go away.” I also suggest taking acidophilus capsules and eating more PLAIN yogurts for the active cultures. Cutting down on sugar in your diet can also be beneficial, since the yeast thrives on it. Email me with anything you need, ok?

The Optimal Duration of Exclusive Breastfeeding: A Systematic Review

$10.76

The longstanding debate over the optimal duration of exclusive breastfeeding has centered on the so-called “weanling’s dilemma” in developing countries: the choice between the known protective effect of exclusive breastfeeding against infectious morbidity and the (theoretical) insufficiency of breast milk alone to satisfy the infant’s energy and micronutrient requirements beyond 4 months of age. …

Why choose a formula feeding on breastfeeding?

I recently read that many mothers who choose formula in the chest, I wonder why is that? I could never imagine that the choice of formula. Breastfeeding is free, easy, cheap and convenient. I understand that if the baby was unable to breastfeed and can not breastfeed, or if the baby is allergic to milk, but why a mother does not want to breastfeed? Because it is rare? The breasts are nutrition for babies, if you do anything else with them, it is rare! I try not to be rude or offend anyone, just a sincere request. I've also heard of parents discourage mothers breastfeeding mother to maintain some control, because if the baby sucks the breast, which depends on the mother.

I also pick breastfeeding but I have a lot of friends who bought the formula for perfectly valid reasons. They are: Back to work in 6 weeks. Pumping is not always an option. The need to return to drugs that are dangerous for a baby. Some mothers do not admit to a drink or addiction problems, but we recognize that it is dangerous baby. underwent breast reduction surgery or silicone implants. NICU baby was a long time and nipple confusion. The baby has a cleft palate important. Baby on a feeding tube (breast milk is often recommended for use in a feeding tube. Do not know why). family harassment, including in the regulation. No body wants or problems. Keep track was not as long as the nurse was often very bad for breastfeeding mothers. Many nurses consider breastfeeding bad (no joke).

Boys for Pele, the title of Tori Amos’s epic third album, is as awkward and confusing as the music inside. Though it sounds like a recruitment slogan for Little League soccer, the name actually refers to the lost temples of feminine divinity. Pele, you see, is the Hawaiian volcano goddess; the boys, well, they’re the sacrifices that quell the rumbling lady’s rage. Attempting to regain fires stolen…

Breastfeeding Toddler To Sleep

Breastfeeding and the space between – where I can get more?

Hi my 8 week old still eats really often during the day as every 2 hours, making it hard for me to sleep. (Because I think I'm trying to sleep as often as a result of their diet as often) appears to be a bed of very bright and if I go to the chair, stroller so she wakes up, now I try not to leave. when they start to say 3-4 hours between meals is simply not occur with a baby being breastfed? I was a child a child of 18 months also, so I can not sleep when the baby sleeps to try to catch up! Left breastfeeding at least 4 months (and I cried and cried as a result – it felt like a failure yaddah blah, but that's another story.) I would try to continue feeding my daughter all the time as possible, but maybe I'm not physically done. I care very thin and not eating so you can not gain weight, maybe this affects my ability to feed?

I know for me the first two weeks of my dd has been eating every 2-3 hours. The pediatrician told me not to feed all 4 hours. It is difficult when baby cries because of hunger. In week 3, is adjusted to a night schedule and eat every 3 1 / 2 to 4 hours. Now she is 15 weeks, and eats every 4 hours or so … Some people are not for the struggles that come with it. Sometimes I wanted to quit because I felt he could not go anywhere. My baby seems to be like yours. Sleep when I want, but the second I put it down, he woke up. But his position on the seat of the car. The only way to fix tears in the seat of the car is out. My dd I hated that thing and he is upset to hear that cry and mourn for, but I'm glad he was arrested. I think I finally realized it was something she did not win me no matter what. As far as I know and I have 15 1 / 2 weeks in the infirmary, then you can go 4 hours. Sometimes more. I know most of them are not sleeping thought the night. Mine goes to sleep anywhere between 4-6 hours and wake up to eat and then go right back to sleep. I have met many mothers who breastfeed. They say that at night, give the formula Baby is that the baby slept all night. It sounds so good. But at least you tried. Do not beat yourself over something. You need to relax. For it to work properly two children and be patient. Good luck to you. Of course, sometimes when I go I do not. Because my best friend breastfed her twins is 10 months old and I beat him lol! This is my inspiration. I congratulate you for trying. Maybe you can go to your local hospital and talk to a lactation specialist. They are very good.
