Advice regarding engorgement and drying up milk?
My baby is 4 months old and we are now ready to stop breastfeeding. I just had some questions, its only been like 12 hours now since i breastfed and Im so engorged.. how long does it take for the engorgement to end and what can i do to lessen the pain, pumping is not an option as I lost one of the parts for my pump and cant find it anywhere.

If you are going to stop cold turkey then you are going to need to drain your breasts. Just take a really hot shower and let the water run over your breasts. Be careful with engorgement as it often leads to mastitis (had it several times). You’ll know you have it if your breasts get red and hot and you basically feel like you have the flu. It will give you a super high temp as well. If your really serious about drying up fast you may want to go to your doctor and have him or her prescribe you some medication to help. In the meantime take ibuprofen for the pain and get in the shower as soon as possible.
