mirena birth control while breastfeeding, please help?
i just had a baby 7 weeks ago and had the mirena iud put in today, it was a slightly painful procedure, but nothing too bad, and i have been having light cramping and bleeding.
but when i got home i started researching mirena and have found that there is an increased risk of the iud perforating your uterus while breastfeeding, as well as a bunch of other horrible side effects. all day i have had this horrible feeling about it and this strong conviction too get it removed. i am seriously considering calling my doctor tomoro to have it removed,
does anyone have any experience with mirena, good or bad? and do you guys think that i am overthinking this?
If you have it removed tomorrow, you just wasted a ton of money by having them put it in.
That said, I have Mirena, and have had it in since my son was two weeks old. I breastfed him and am still breastfeeding him at 14 months old and have had no problems. You have to remember that the chances of the side effects happening is very very small.
Edit — Perhaps it is more common than I believe, but I think it is not as common as some think, either.
Do what you feel is right hon, follow your instincts. If you think that it will harm you by having it in, have them take it out.
