
Food list for breastfeeding?
I’m going food shopping tomorrow and wanted to know what I should get to keep a healthy diet while breastfeeding.
I’m going to pick up some yogurt and a ton of fruit and some veggies. I have plenty of milk and juices and water at my home already. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
No particular food are required while breastfeeding. A healthy diet should surfice. Of course that means cutting out alcohol and many other OTC medicaitons (Asprin and Pepto Bismol for example). Get lots of protein and calcium. Fruits, vegetables and other on the go snacks come in handy. Try string cheese, yogurt, apples, bananas, pretzels, fruit in general, raw carrot sticks, etc. Steer clear (at first) of gas causing foods like onions and broccoli. They tend to bother some babies. Remember that what you ingest your baby ingests even if it’s at the expense of you. Dont’ restrict your calories yet eat sensibly like you did when you were pregnant and you should be fine.
