Any relief from engorgement after breastfeeding?
I’ve been nursing exclusively for a little over 8 months. My daughter is about two weeks away from her ninth month. She spent a day with her grandma, not intentionally the whole day, and she had to take formula. This was the first time she had ever taken it without slapping it out of hand… and she seemed to really enjoy it. Right now she only likes drinking ready made. She has done fine with the switch. I on the other hand can’t seem to handle it. My breasts are VERY engorged, and painful. I’ve taken some Tylenol, and it doesn’t seem to help. I don’t have insurance to go to the doctor and get a prescription. And I’ve read a lot about the cabbage leaves. I was just wondering, from experienced mothers please, if there is any relief I can get without expressing?
Been there and I know you are in pain! No one knows how bad it is unless they, too have suffered. I used to take a warm bath as it seemed to let the milk flow and that really helped.
Here is are two links that I hope helps. The second one mentions cabbage leaves.
