Should I pump then dump after drinking coffee?

I’ve read that drinking caffeine while breastfeeding can make a baby fussy, gassy or even colicky.
This morning I drank a huge cup of coffee! JAVA JAVA! I feel energized! lol
While I was pregnant, I limited my caffeine intake, but my OB said not to cut it out completely if I planned on consuming caffeine after delivery.
I’m sure my daughter is used to the caffeine already. I’ve been drinking 12 ounces of caffeine per day. Which is one can of soda.
I drank a big cup of coffee while I was pregnant about 2 times a week. I enjoy the taste of coffee, and soda. (not mixed of course!!)
I breastfeed, and my daughter doesn’t seem to be effected by the soda I drink during the day. But I just downed a giant cup of coffee for the first time since I gave birth (6 weeks ago).
I breastfed her while I was drinking my coffee, and she’s already asleep… so I’m not sure if the caffeine has effected her or not.
Should I pump then dump just to be sure? Or should I just go with it?

No! Don’t throw your good milk away! I think a cup of coffee once and a while is not going to do anything to your baby. I drank coffee while breastfeeding and I had no problems. As long as your not drinking only coffee or soda! Sure have your cup of Joe when you feel like it as long as you don’t go overboard! Never throw your good milk away. I always thought it was such a shame when I saw a few of my friends tossing full bottles of their good milk away because they thought they ate something gassy that their baby wont like!!! That’s allot of hard work your body goes through to make that good stuff for your precious little one, I Say, JUST GO WITH IT! ;-D
