Breastfeeding: nursing clothes?
Did anyone not go out and buy a nursing wardrobe especially for breastfeeding? I am not working right now and am planning on breastfeeding when the baby comes (I am due next week); and I really don’t want to spend more money on nursing clothes, especially since most of my feeding will take place at home.
Did you manage to wear regular clothes or maybe more cardigans/tank tops when breastfeeding?
Also, is a breast pump a necessity or is it something that only some women need when breastfeeding?
I did not go out and buy a nursing wardrobe when my baby was born 4 months ago. I knew I was going to loose weight so it was not worth it to buy nursing clothes that I was not going to fit into a few months. I just wore a lot of t-shirts or button up shirts and tank tops. I was home most of the time so it didn’t matter. On the very few rare occasions I did go out, I just put a shawl over baby and me. Its not worth buying nursing clothes especially since your body is changing. You will need a breast pump if you are going back to work and need to pump to leave milk for baby. If you are not going back to work but you want a night out with hubby or friends you can buy a cheap manual pump so you can express milk to leave for a feeding.
