breasfeeding and antibiotics?
i have been taking Avalox for the past week for bronchitis and sinus infection. My Dr. recommended not to breastfeed while taking the meds so i stopped and gave my son formula, and pumped and discarded my breastmilk.
How long after after stopping medication is it safe to resume breastfeeding?

It looks like there may be safer antibiotics to use, but discontinuing nursing was bad advice, and I’d have harsh words for any doctor of mine I caught dishing that out.
Sorry about that.
re. “ask your doctor” answers — no, do not ask a doctor daft enough to have given the bad advice in the first place. Doctors are too often ill-informed about drugs and nursing. Ask a pharmacist, ask motherisk.com, ask kellymom.com.
