If breastfeeding is so great, why are the rates so low?
Women are not given the *right* type of encouragement and support, and they’re not educated on the benefits of breastfeeding. The generation above us were told that formula was better for babies, we are hearing our mothers telling us the same thing and easily believing it. Some worry about the social stigma or the sexual aspect of breasts, some have partners who are also uneducated on the subject. Women are too often told of the difficulties in breastfeeding and not enough about the ease of it (when established) and the positive sides. Women are often expected to return to work quickly and some are afraid to approach the possibility of expressing while at work – worried enough about being a working mother. There are many reasons.
