was facebooks ban on breastfeeding pictures ok?
Facebook had banned and deleted several pictures that showed moms nursing their babys as ‘indecent’. ( none showed the whole nipple )
Do you think that the pictures should be allowed? in not, why not? Also do you view public breastfeeding as wrong or indecent?
I dont care if someone is breastfeeding in public, I’m not against it. Baby has to eat, right?
I can see some of your point on why would you even want to put that type of picture online. I personally wouldnt put one in my page if I was breastfeeding.
But then again if you can put up a half naked picture of yourself why not a breastfeeding one.. to those who do want to put theirs up..
I personally think it’s a private moment between mom and baby. I totally believe in breastfeeding and will do it when I have my baby. I would prefer to do it in private or under a light blankie if in public. Other people can choose what they want to do. The breast has been so objectified and is seen as such a sexy symbol in our culture.
I was at my husband’s friend’s place for dinner with about 7 other pepole and the mom was breastfeeding at the table. I felt a little uncomfortable while I was eating. Am I supposed to look? Keep my eyes averted? I just looked at the mom in the eyes even though I was pretty distracted.
I don’t think those pictures have a place on facebook. Mainly b/c I don’t believe in putting anything too personal on…not even a pic of me in a bathing suit. I wouldn’t want my breast on their even if it was feeding my child.
