itchy breasts after breastfeeding?
i have just weaned my child off the boob and my right breast is VERY itchy. just the one. it also has red marks on it. i have not breast fed in about 3 days, and each day it gets more itchier. is this normal? and what can i do about it.
someone suggested it may be the laundry detergent, but its only on the one breast and no where else on my body either…
red marks are not stretch marks… more blotchy then anything.

it could be mastitis…? but when you say blotchy, do you mean UNDER the skin? or at the skin top? if it is under, and your breast is warmer than usual (and i mean usual than normal…at best since you have been breast feeding) then i would say its mastitis.
if its at the skin with possible peeling of the skin at areola as well, you might have yeast.
twice i have been sticken with mastitis-
the first time the doc had NO clue why i was running a fever of 102 (DAYS AFTER i knew i had it..cuz usually a breast feeding mother has time to let loose her mammy glands..lol..and inspect..too little time, even while getting out of the shower)
any hoo, while i was getting dressed at the docs after a x ray, i happend to notice-YUP red blotchy color to the skin. duh, what a dork i am, had a x ray for nuttn!
good luck hun, im about to enter that wonderful stage of mother hood yet again- any day now my baby will come out StArVING! lol..
mastitis, if BAD, can only be treated with antibios….bum. sorry.
and for yeast- nystatin cream or ointment from doc as well.
