Can breastfeeding moms donate blood?

For those who don’t know I live in the Dominican Republic (we share the island with Haiti). I have donated blood in the past but I don’t know if I can or can’t while breastfeeding.

Also… I am organizing a food drive… any ideas of what specific things to ask for? I find people work better with lists because they want to maximize the help they can give.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I’m not sure about the blood, best bet would be to call a localhospital and ask.

But as for the food drive, I would make a list of things that don’t need to be kept at a certain temperature and foods that can last a while.

Maybe bottles of water since the water supply might be a wreck at the moment,
Canned Meats
Canned Vegetables
Canned Soups
Cereal
Peanut Butter
Canned Fruit
Canned Tomato Products
Meal Mixes, such as Hamburger Helper or Rice-A-Roni
Condiments

If it’s not too much maybe ask for a doll and a little toy for a boy. Could make their day and keep them going.

Maybe ask for spare change too. Pennies add up and if you have 50 people giving you 200 pennies that’s $100.

Good for you. We need more of you in the world.
