How did you prepare your breastfed baby for daycare, esp if you pumped?
I will be going back to work in a little over 2 weeks (when my daughter is 6 weeks old). I am breastfeeding and plan to pump, but we will have backup formula for her in case she has a frequency day and the daycare runs out of expressed milk (my daughter is a big eater). We have given her a bottle 3 times. One time replaced a feeding and she drank all 5 oz, then wanted a little from the breast. One time was after a feeding, and she took all 3 oz (but it was also during a growth spurt). The 3rd time she only drank about an ounce after a small feeding. How did you prepare for your child going to daycare? How many ounces should I leave in each bottle of expressed milk? How can I prepare her so that if the daycare has to resort to formula, I know she’ll take it?
i worked in the daycare, and everyone was different.
we usually had one frozen for back ups.
and then maybe a single serving of powder just in case, and we knew if they were getting low that day we’d call the mom, and either do half formula and breast milk, or formula.
some moms brought like a water bottle looking thing, some brought indvidual bottles. i thought the water bottle thing was much easier.
when the baby is fussy and hungry it takes forever to warm up a cold bottle with cold milk in a crock pot.
good luck!
