What are the side effects Paxil for nursing mothers?
My wife was prescribed Paxil for postpartum depression. From infancy mother, she wondered what effect it will have on the HVE baby?
Paxil has low blood plasma levels of the mother, and lower transfer rate for human milk. Was detected in blood plasma of 7 of 8 breastfed infants in one study, 16 children in a second study, all 24 babies in a third study. For babies exposed to Paxil in the womb, it is clear that withdrawal can occur 24-48 hours after birth.
