Can I Still Choose To Breastfeed? baby is 3 weeks old?

My daughter is 3 weeks old and although all during my pregnancy I had planned on breastfeeding, when she was born I had a real b itch (sorry but she was) for a lactation nurse. She literally shoved my babies head to my breast. She was rude and nasty and I instantly changed my mind and decided to give my baby a bottle just to get her out of my face. I couldn’t handle the thought of my baby going hungry and because I couldn’t get her to latch so formula worked for both of us. Now I’m having problems with her gulping too much air and fussy/gassy. ive tried avent and now dr browns bottles. She is an aggressive eater and starts her feeds sucking with such passion that she sucks all kinds of air. Although I’m not crazy about the idea of breastfeeding it might be the solution to all the problems were having with bottle feeding. Is it too late to breastfeed? How do I “relactate” I still get a few drops leaking from my breasts but I think my milk is drying up for the most part.

It is possible to relactate as long as you are still producing something. Try putting your daughter to your breast. Your body will pick up on the cues and begin to produce the milk your daughter needs. You can also contact your local la leche league for advice and help.

If you decide you don’t want to breastfeed, try using teh Playtex VentAire bottles. They work great for reducing the amount of air your baby will get!
